The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) warns of a delicate situation with a lot of uncertainty in the Balearic Islands that at the moment activates the yellow alert especially in Mallorca, Eivissa and Formentera for today and tomorrow. This new DANA could become an orange alert in the next hours

An Isolated High Level Depression (DANA) could affect Mallorca today Tuesday and tomorrow Wednesday, according to the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET). According to the current forecast, from midday in Eivissa and Formentera and in the afternoon in Mallorca, showers and storms that could be locally very strong will return. Around the Balearic Sea there will be storms and heavy or very heavy rainfall, warns the AEMET. The warnings, which in principle were planned for the early hours of Tuesday, are advanced and would be from 17:00 hours this Tuesday, September 19, in Mallorca.

According to the current forecast, between 30 and 40 liters of water per square meter could fall in just one hour and accumulate between 60 and 90 liters throughout the day. The DANA will be accompanied by a drop in temperatures: the maximum temperatures will be around 25º and 28º when the usual at this time of year are 27º. In addition, storms could leave strong or very strong gusts of wind.

However, from the AEMET the situation of high uncertainty is remarked so it remains very pending by the need to adapt the level of alert according to the development of this unstable and changing weather phenomenon. Therefore, the situation could change to orange alert for very heavy rains and storms in the coming hours.
