The Consell de Mallorca, through the Fundació Mallorca Turisme, is preparing a public call for short films that is expected to be announced this February. The objective is to create an audiovisual collection, with a common link, from which a campaign to promote tourism in Mallorca can be drawn. This was announced by the Consell, who will rely on the Mallorca Film Commission for the production.

This initiative includes two parallel projects. The first is the shorts film contest, which is about to be published. In addition, the entire creative process and the material received are intended to create a campaign to promote the island. This audiovisual piece, in film format, will be tried to be inserted into the usual distribution circuits. Although it is not yet known through which platforms, the objective is to distribute this product on channels such as festivals, Netflix, etc., as long as they are compatible with the local economic network. There is still nothing concrete, but when the final product is finished, work will be done on its dissemination.

Promotion of Mallorca and local products

This action by the Consell will be aimed both at promoting visits to the island and promoting local products and local shops. With it, an attempt will be made to impact as many environments as possible to attract the interest of the main tourism source markets. Thus, each and every one of the actions will be proposed to achieve the maximum return on the part of the markets, discarding those platforms that generate grievances to the local economic network.

Mallorca wants to be among the main destinations in the national and international market once the pandemic lowers the restrictions. For this reason, this bet focuses on a different creativity capable of having a multi-channel adaptation. Safety, sustainability and our development as a smart destination are other essential concepts present in the design of this new campaign.

The changes in the tourist panorama have increased the commitment of the Consell de Mallorca for those products that most distinguish the island. These are active tourism, gastronomy, Mediterranean culture and the high level of the “premium” offer.
