The Bicipalma network expands the station located in the industrial area of Son Rossinyol due to the great demand of users and inaugurates a new stop located at the Son Pacs traffic circle, at camí dels Reis number 419 in Palma, between Son Castelló and Son Rossinyol. Bicipalma now has a total of 76 stations and improves the connectivity of industrial parks

Bicipalma has added a new station at the Son Pacs traffic circle, between Son Castelló and Son Rossinyol. Together with Son Espases, El Molinar and Son Ferriol, the service now has 76 operational stations in different parts of Palma, out of the total of 85 planned.

The Mobility area has doubled the capacity of the Son Rossinyol station, with 22 anchorages, compared to the 12 available to date.

With the new anchorages, the Bicipalma network extends its coverage to more neighborhoods with the new Bicipalma, which has a renewed image and electric bicycles with a range of 70 kilometers, in addition to expandable stations with a geolocatable system.

Bicipalma to more neighborhoods

Bicipalma will increase its stations to 85 in the following months. We recall that on December 29, 2022 the new Bicipalma came into operation. Gradually, up to 930 new bikes will be incorporated, of which 270 are electric and 660 mechanical. The electric bicycles have a range of between 60 and 80 kilometers and are powered by an intelligent battery system that optimizes their use and provides support when starting the bike.

The aim is to reach beyond the ring road and cover densely populated neighborhoods in order to reduce the use of private vehicles.

The project of the new Bicipalma has been financed by the Next Generation fund of the European Union included in the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience fund and was awarded to the company NextBike for an amount of 2,991,220 euros.

How it works

During these first weeks, the service has been launched only for old users, but from January 16, new users will be able to download the app to use the new system.

The new Bicipalma allows to register through the App that has been developed and is available for Android, Gallery App and IOs systems in different languages. Users can have real-time information about bikes, anchorages and nearby stations. It also streamlines the rental and return system.

The new Bicipalma in data

It will go from 37 to 72 stations. It will have 800 bicycles, of which 240 will be electric and 560 mechanical. Anchor points will go from 660 to 1440 (all electrically charged). The bicycles will have a geolocation system. Mechanical bikes will have a solar panel to recharge the panel batteries

Prices and Bicipalma stations

In addition to the new model of bicycles, one of the substantial improvements of the new Bicipalma are the new anchorages, which thanks to its modular system, can be easily extended if necessary. In addition, the stations are simpler without the need for screens, something that will also improve their maintenance. In this sense, they can be repositioned around the city in the event that specific mobility needs are detected.

Palma residents pay 24 euros per year. For those under 25 years of age the cost is 17 euros every 12 months. And there is a reduced rate for those who renew early. There are also six-monthly, quarterly and monthly rates.
