Therefore, travelling by motorcycle will not allow motorists to pass through the controls established on the Ma-10, in Platja de Palma, Formentor, Cap Blanc, es Trenc or any of the other affected access routes. The decision was agreed jointly by the Balearic Government, the Guardia Civil, local police forces and the councils involved.

The greatest concentration of controls will be on the Ma-10 and in the Serra de Tramuntana, although access routes in northern Mallorca, Migjorn, Pla and Llevant will also be regulated.

Restrictions in the Serra de Tramuntana
The Ma-10 will be subject to particularly strict traffic controls. The aim is to prevent cars, motorcycles and other vehicles from gathering at viewpoints, on roadsides, near coves and on stretches of road with limited evacuation capacity.
Monitoring of the main access points will begin before the eclipse and will be intensified during the afternoon. From 3:00 pm, or earlier if the authorities consider it necessary, only people covered by one of the authorised exemptions will be allowed to enter the restricted sections.
This affects Sant Elm, Andratx, Estellencs, Banyalbufar, Esporles, Valldemossa, Deià, Sóller, Fornalutx, Escorca, Caimari and access to Formentor, among other places. Planning an improvised route through the Serra in search of a viewpoint from which to observe the eclipse is not recommended.
Special operation in Platja de Palma
Platja de Palma will be subject to different conditions from the general timetable applying across the rest of Mallorca. The municipal operation will begin at 8:00 am on 12 August and will include restrictions on traffic and parking.
Exits 6, 7A, 8, 11 and 12 of the Ma-19 towards Llucmajor are expected to be closed.
From 8:00 am to 12:00 noon
During this first phase, vehicle access will be permitted for:
- Residents.
- Properly accredited workers.

Workers and guests who need to enter in a private vehicle must have the corresponding QR-code permit, processed through the establishment.
From 12:00 noon

The operation is intended to keep access to the airport, hospitals and other essential services open. In addition, Bellver Forest will remain closed throughout the day.
Restrictions in Santa Ponça and Calvià
Santa Ponça beach has been selected as an Official Viewing Zone. The municipal operation will be activated 24 hours before the eclipse, on Tuesday, 11 August, allowing traffic, parking and occupancy levels in the area to be progressively controlled.
Access may be closed once maximum capacity is reached. Resident status does not provide priority entry to an Official Viewing Zone that is already full, although it can be used to justify certain journeys to a home located within a restricted area.
Access to Puig de sa Morisca and particularly sensitive viewpoints such as El Toro and the Illes Malgrats will also be prohibited. Calvià Council may introduce additional restrictions depending on occupancy levels and the operational requirements.
Who will be allowed to access restricted areas?
The restrictions include a number of exemptions, although travellers will need to provide proper evidence of the reason for their journey at the control points.

The authorities may request documents in paper or digital format. Having only a booking without guaranteed parking does not ensure that access in a private vehicle will be permitted, particularly during the busiest periods.
Will access to hotels and restaurants be permitted?
Guests of hotels and other accommodation establishments located within a restricted area will be able to enter by presenting proof of their booking, although they should expect controls, traffic delays and possible additional conditions.
For restaurants, beach bars and similar establishments, access in a private vehicle will be conditional on having a confirmed reservation and a guaranteed parking space. When parking is unavailable, the official recommendation is to use public transport, a taxi, a private-hire vehicle or a shuttle service.
