The traditional summer reception held at Marivent Palace brought together around 600 representatives of the institutions and leading social, economic and cultural sectors of the Balearic Islands.

Their Majesties King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia hosted the traditional reception for the authorities of the Balearic Islands and representatives of the archipelago’s society on Tuesday, 4 August, at Marivent Palace in Palma.

The King and Queen were accompanied by Their Royal Highnesses the Princess of Asturias and Infanta Sofía, as well as Her Majesty Queen Sofía. The reception brought together around 600 guests from different areas of the islands’ institutional, social and economic life.

Those attending included representatives of the branches of government, regional and local authorities, as well as senior figures from public and private institutions across the Balearic Islands.

The event also brought together members of professional associations, business organisations and trade unions, religious denominations, foundations and associations. Sectors including healthcare, culture, architecture, sport, gastronomy and the media were also represented.

The Marivent reception has become one of the main events in Mallorca’s summer institutional calendar. The gathering allows the Royal Family to maintain direct contact with representatives from different areas of Balearic society and to recognise the work of those who contribute to the islands’ economic, social and cultural development.

The event formed part of the Royal Family’s official agenda during their summer stay in Mallorca.
