The 1st Mallorca Global Tournament “18 Holes, 18 Brands” turned Golf Maioris into a meeting place where competition shared the spotlight with gastronomy and networking

“In Mallorca there are many events, but few with a clear purpose. This one had direction and very clean execution. When things are done well, it shows.” Dr. Javier Beut, a participant in the 1st Mallorca Global Tournament “18 Holes, 18 Brands”, held on 21 February, thus sums up an event that turned Golf Maioris into something more than just a sporting venue. The concept brought together brands, competition and gastronomy in a format where the social component carried as much weight as the game itself. “An environment was created where relationships flowed naturally, without forced networking, and that is not easy,” Beut emphasises.

From the moment it was announced, the tournament generated considerable anticipation and registrations were filled in record time. “In the end, a golfer always considers what is being offered. The more they receive, the more they value the experience. In addition, Golf Maioris struck me as an excellent choice because it is an outstanding course, one of the best in Mallorca,” he notes.

The day began early with a welcome pack valued at more than 100 euros and a welcome breakfast provided by Ca’n Joan de s’Aigo. Over coffee and its famous ensaimadas and cuartos, the first interactions began in a relaxed atmosphere that set the tone for the entire day. “It was a relaxed and enjoyable tournament, very well organised,” says Sofía Calvet, one of the players, a view that reflects the general perception of those in attendance.

At 9:00, the golfers took their positions on the course for the start of the tournament. With 92 participants competing, the course became a dynamic space where the game coexisted with the presence of brands, each linked to a hole. Companies such as Air Europa, Absolut Home, Absolut Play, Absolut BBQ, Autovidal -with its brands Volvo, Alfa Romeo, Omoda and Jaecoo-, HM Hoteles, Balearhouse, Grupo La Vasca, Ona Clinic, Studio Gallery, Hammam Al Ándalus, Palma Motos, Llull Segur, Dyreco, Palma Beach and Previs helped to create a “very original” experience. “The presence of the brands gave it a special touch,” explains Calvet. In addition, the day included a Golf Clinic -an introductory session- which brought the sport closer to 28 participants, in keeping with the open nature of the event.

Gastronomic experience

The gastronomic offering accompanied the entire course, with a halfway stop by Grupo La Vasca that, more than just a brief break, became a space where players paused, shared and resumed the round at a different pace. “Food at golf tournaments is not usually anything special, but in this case the difference was clear, it was much better,” says Calvet. “The catering was almost excessive. By the time we sat down to eat, we were not even hungry,” adds Beut with humour.

The participants shared an aperitif after the tournament.

After the round, the focus shifted to the aperitif and lunch at L-Club Restaurant & Bar at Golf Maioris, where much of the interaction between businesspeople, players and guests took place. It was also the moment for the prize-giving and the raffle, featuring a wide range of gifts valued at more than 10,000 euros, including trips to destinations across Europe and to New York, hotel stays, gastronomic experiences, Lottusse footwear, wellness and beauty treatments, decorative pieces and other gifts provided by the partner brands.

For Beut, with this type of event the agency “Mallorca Global demonstrates its experience in event organisation and that it carefully curates the profile of the attendees. Golf was just a setting, it was not the main focus. What mattered was bringing many people together, the exchange… I think it has set a precedent,” he adds. “It left a very positive impression and I would take part again,” concludes Calvet.
