In September, the Balearic Islands registered one out of every three overnight stays by foreigners in Spain during the month of September, with 33.7% of the total. This is shown in the hotel occupancy data published by the INE. The Balearic Islands were followed by the Canary Islands and Catalonia, with 19.4% and 17.9% of the total number of overnight stays, respectively.

The INE data also placed the Balearic Islands as the region with the highest occupancy rate by bedplaces during September (78.2%), followed by the Canary Islands, with 72.0%. By tourist areas, Palma – Calvià had the highest occupancy rate by bedplaces (80.2%) and the highest weekend occupancy rate (82.8%). Mallorca as a whole recorded the highest number of overnight stays in September, with 6,505,457.

The most expensive prices, in the Balearic Islands

Another of the graphs headed by the archipelago is that of hotel prices. The HPI (hotel price index) for the Balearic Islands is the highest in Spain, with a value of 165.54, followed by the Canary Islands (143.51) and the Basque Country (132.09).
