The organisation FanMed presented this Friday an informative video highlighting good practices in the marine environment. Entitled “A sea of respect: Sailing responsibly with nature and the community”, it is an initiative that seeks to promote conscious and respectful sailing with the environment and the surrounding communities. The event was attended by the Councillor for the Sea and Water Cycle, Juan Manuel Lafuente.

Lafuente stressed the importance of “raising awareness and convincing users to take care of the sea and the coastline” of the Balearic Islands. “The video is an initiative of FanMed, together with Ports IB. It is a series of basic recommendations that will be disseminated through all the clubs and nautical facilities in the Balearic Islands to raise awareness among all users. It is a sample of the path and the process that we have to follow over the next four years,” said the Councillor for the Sea and Water Cycle.

During the event, which took place at the Club Nàutic S’Arenal, Lafuente also stressed the importance of “working together between the sectors, civil society and the Administration to protect the coastline and coasts more and more and to improve the quality of our islands”.

The councillor pledged to “listen” to the needs of the sector and to maintain “direct contact with the people who are working on a day-to-day basis with the problems of the coast and the management of the sea”.
