Former President Donald Trump and his defence team will appear before Judge Juan Merchan this afternoon to be read charges by a team of prosecutors led by Alvin Bragg

Donald Trump will be charged this afternoon in New York with more than 30 counts of crimes related to the payment to silence, shortly before the 2016 election, an extramarital affair with a porn actress, Stormy Daniels.

The former president, the first in history to be charged with the commission of crimes, will receive 34 charges, a source with knowledge of the investigation against the New York billionaire has leaked to Yahoo News.

As previously reported, the charges relate to forgery of a financial document, which is a misdemeanour under New York state law. However, the Manhattan district attorney’s office has upgraded the charges to a ‘class E’ felony – the lesser of the felonies, which carry prison sentences of between one and four years – because they were committed to conceal another crime, according to the information.

To face the indictment, the former president Trump hires a new lawyer to strengthen his defence for the Stormy Daniels case.
According to the accusation of the ‘Stormy case’, the lawyer Michael Cohen paid 130,000 dollars to the actress on behalf of Trump, who in 2016 was a candidate for the Republican nomination, as he is today.
