Son Sant Joan Airport, recognised by Airports Council International as “Best Airport in Europe” in the category of facilities with between 25 and 40 million passengers

The Airports Council International (ACI) has awarded Son Sant Joan Airport in Palma de Mallorca with the “Best Airport in Europe” award in the category of facilities with between 25 and 40 million passengers. The airports of Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández, Asturias, Reus, Reus, Internacional Región de Murcia, Pamplona and El Hierro have also received different mentions from the ACI.

Son Sant Joan airport has been recognised by ACI for the third consecutive year, as in 2021 it was awarded for having the “Best Hygiene Measures” in Europe against COVID-19 and last year, with the “The Voice of the Customer”, for its commitment to listening to passengers. These awards are derived from passenger ratings in the ASQ (Airport Service Quality) surveys commissioned by ACI.

The ASQ programme is a global benchmarking scheme in the airport industry that allows the service offered at each airport to be tested and compared with similar sized infrastructures in the rest of the world.

These awards are based on the results of the ASQ surveys, which are carried out within this programme to measure passengers’ perception of service quality through questionnaires in which they rate their experience at airports in relation to aspects such as access, facilities, staff friendliness, security and waiting time at the security checkpoint. All participating airports use exactly the same methodology.
