After the Day of the Balearic Islands (1 March), many people are impatiently awaiting the arrival of Holy Week in Mallorca in 2023, a period of Catholic liturgy and holiday rest that this year is brought forward to early April, according to the work calendar for 2023 in the Balearic Islands.

Thus, Easter holidays in Mallorca will be on Thursday 6 April (Maundy Thursday), Friday 7 April (Good Friday) and Monday 10 April (Easter Monday).

According to the 2023 school calendar, the Easter holidays for infant, primary, secondary, baccalaureate and special education students will begin on Thursday 6 April and end on Friday 14 April. Students will not return to school until the following Monday, 17 April.

Holidays when shops will be open for business during Holy Week in Mallorca

Only on Maundy Thursday (6 April), commercial establishments on the island will be able to open their doors to the public during Easter Week in Mallorca 2023. Good Friday and Easter Monday will remain closed as approved by the Inter-island Trade Commission in October 2022, when the ten days of commercial opening in the Balearic Islands for 2023 were established: 15 January (Sunday), 12 March (Sunday), 6 April (Thursday), 25 June (Sunday), 15 August (Tuesday), 10 September (Sunday), 26 November (Sunday) and 8 (Friday, Constitution Day), 17 (Sunday) and 24 December (Sunday, Christmas Eve).

After Easter Week 2023 in Mallorca, we will have to wait until May to enjoy the rest of the public holidays:

  • 1 May: Labour Day (Monday).
  • 15th August: Assumption of the Virgin (Tuesday).
  • 12 October: National Holiday (Thursday).
  • 1 November: All Saints’ Day (Wednesday).
  • 6 December: Constitution Day (Wednesday).
  • 8 December: Immaculate Conception (Friday).
  • 25th December: Christmas Day (Monday).

In the case of Palma, 26 December (Sant Esteve or second Christmas Day) will be a local holiday.
