On July 28th, 2022 the exhibition of Javier Peñafiel “What conditions your fictions?” (¿Qué condiciona tus ficciones? in spanish). This exhibition of the artist will be open to the public until October 16, 2022 and will take place at the Casal Solleric in Palma. Javier Peñafiel presents a tour of the projects of his career as an artist, from 1990 to the present. These works review and return to deep issues of today’s society, treated with a poetic and intelligent irony that shakes and opens new ways of thinking.
The curators of the exhibition Lorenza Pignatti and Aina Bausà of Javier Peñafiel’s exhibition “What conditions your fictions?” try to show that it is not a retrospective exhibition, but an exploration of artistic practice. In it you can appreciate the videos, installations, drawings, dramatized lectures, animations, photographs, texts for theater, publications, which demonstrate the ability of the artist -born in Zaragoza and living in Mallorca- to invent works in which theoretical reflection and its iconographic embodiment show the uniqueness of an imaginary in which language becomes image and scenic apparatus.
