This morning’s heavy rains in Palma have triggered the discharge of mixed water into the sea, forcing Palma City Council to raise the red flag on the beaches of Cala Mayor, Can Pere Antoni, Ciutat Jardí and Cala Estancia.

Analyses are currently being carried out to check the quality of the water. Emaya has informed that the affected beaches will remain closed until the results are known and the water quality is once again optimal for bathing.

According to a communiqué issued by the Palma Town Hall, “the lamination tank and the intercepting collector have worked correctly, managing to prevent the discharge of 35,000 m3 of mixed water, although it was not enough due to the intensity of the rainfall”.
