The Parc de la Riera will host the seventh edition of the Popular Race Palmadona on Sunday the 19th of May, an event that has added a thousand more entries this year to encourage participation, bringing the total number of places to four thousand. This race is organised by Palma City Council, through the Institut Municipal de l’Esport (IME), as a “tribute” to women and in recognition of “women’s sport and the upward trajectory it has been following in recent years”, according to the Palma City Council.

The sporting event will begin next Sunday at 10:30 a.m. with a general warm-up led by coach Susana Sans. The race, which will start at 11 a.m., will run along a 2.3-kilometre circuit of asphalt and dirt. Both the start and finish line will be in the Parc de la Riera, and participants will be able to choose between one or two laps of the circuit.

All runners will receive a commemorative T-shirt and a finisher’s medal, as well as a healthy snack courtesy of Mercapalma and sustainable bags provided by AutoVidal for the first two thousand registered runners. The race bibs and T-shirts will be handed out on Saturday, 18 May, in a marquee in the Parc de la Riera.

To participate, you must register online (the event is free of charge) and at the latest by 17 May at 9 p.m. (while places last). Sign up here

III Children Race

For the third consecutive year, the IME has organised the Children Race Palmadona as a preamble to the popular race for adults. This is also a free, non-competitive event designed for children up to the age of twelve. It will take place from 9 a.m. in the Parc de la Riera, with routes adapted according to age: a distance of 200 metres for children aged 0 to 3; 400 metres for those aged 4 to 5; 600 metres for children aged 6 to 9; and, finally, 1,200 metres for children aged 10 and over.

It should be noted that children up to the age of five must be accompanied by their parents due to their young age.

To participate, you must register online (the event is free of charge) and at the latest by 17 May at 9 p.m. (while places last). Sign up here.

VI Exhibitor Fair

As a complement to the sporting events, the VI Exhibitor Fair Palmadona, an exhibition dedicated to women, health, wellbeing and sport, will be held on Saturday 18 May. The fair, which will also take place in the Parc de la Riera, will host marquees and stands of different entities and companies linked to the fields of health and sport, especially aimed at women, where they will showcase their services and products. The opening hours of this sixth edition of the Exhibitor Fair will be from 11 am to 2 pm and from 4 pm to 8 pm.

In addition, during the day prior to the Popular Race Palmadona, various free leisure and sporting activities will be offered by sports organisations collaborating in this event, aimed at children and the general public.
