The 25th edition of the Música Antiga festival will kick off on the 8th of October and will last until the 26th of November. This year, as a novelty, the programme includes two concerts in the Xesc Forteza municipal theatre and a children’s show. As usual, the festival will continue to offer concerts in heritage venues to promote the recovery of early music.

“Windu Wind. A la recerca del vent”, a show nominated for the European REMA awards in the innovation category and which has won three GEMA awards, will open the festival on 8th October at the Xesc Forteza. Meanwhile, on the 29th and 30th of October, the youngest members of the family will be able to enjoy a puppet and medieval music show by Ensemble Musicantes and Grup de Teatre Tantachá. The aim is to bring ancient and traditional music to children’s audiences.

Among the Música Antiga programme, highlights include the soprano Raquel Andueza, with an extensive and renowned professional career, and the cellist Josetxu Obregón. Also outstanding are the show “Danses del Renaixement” by SimfoVents Palma (Municipal Band of Palma) and the proposals of Solnegre, which will present “La pesta a Milà l’any 1630”, a combination of ancient music and theatre, in the Xesc Forteza municipal theatre. In addition, Acadèmica 1750 will offer a concert with works by Bach and Mozart.

On 5 November, it will be the turn of the Valencian Harmonia del Parnàs, with a performance centred on the Spanish-American musical heritage, with historical criteria and instruments.

The festival will be brought to a close on 26 November by Forma Antiqva with the concert “Farándula castiza. Cartelera instrumental de corrales y coliseos”.
