Many familiar faces have shown their support for the restaurant El Bungalow in Ciudad Jardín, which Costas intends to demolish, through a video. This support is expected to be massive this Sunday, November 6th, when the popular protest “Salvem El Bungalow” will take place, where Agustín El Casta will speak and there will be batucada entertainment.

Opposition to the demolition of the emblematic building in Ciudad Jardín comes not only from celebrities such as Carolina Cerezuela, Mario Vaquerizo, Bibiana Fernández, La Terremoto or Anabel Alonso, but also from more than 7,000 people who have signed the petition to prevent the demolition on the change.org platform.

In the request for signatures promoted by the owners, they criticise that “the current aggressive policy of the Coastal Demarcation aims to eliminate the long-standing restaurants from our coasts, without taking into account the age and roots of our businesses. Costas has not only denied us the concession to work as a restaurant, but also intends to demolish the house and the public solarium in front, when both are built on live rock (not sand) and it would be impossible to enjoy them from then on”.

The owners also point out that they have “a staff of ten permanent workers all year round and nine temporary workers, a total of nineteen families who make their living from the restaurant, families now threatened by this resolution”. The restaurant, they continue, “forms part, together with the restaurant El Peñón (also threatened), of the landscape of our neighbourhood of Ciudad Jardín, they are the two oldest buildings of the entire beachfront”.
