Next Sunday weekend, from the 17th to the 19th of May, the Fira del Caragol will be held in the Sant Jordi neighbourhood in Palma. This popular event, which has now been held for more than 20 years, was created at the proposal of different neighbourhood associations and entities. A fair that has become a key event in the city’s festive calendar, attracting more than fifteen thousand people every year.
Gastronomic fair
This is an essentially gastronomic fair dedicated to snails, with around thirty stalls offering:
- Sale and tasting of cooked snails as the main focus, with the participation of companies that breed, produce and market Mallorcan snails.
- Other specialised producers such as cheese, oil, wine, organic products, sale of agri-food products, stalls of artisans, creators and artists.
- Also bars and restaurants from Sant Jordi, s’Aranjassa and Casa Blanca.
The aim is to promote snail gastronomy and publicise its culinary possibilities, as well as to promote the snail farms in Mallorca as an economic outlet and a way of recovering agricultural land.
