The Mallorca Film Commission, an entity dependent on the Consell de Mallorca, has received the Essentially award for Best Luxury Ambassador of the island at a gala held this Thursday at the Palacio Can Marqués. The other two awards of the 5th edition of the Essentially Awards went to the architect Carme Pinós, as Best Committed Luxury, and the film “Lemon bread with poppy seeds”, as the Best Essence of Mallorca. Thus, the winners have been recognised for their excellence, quality and good work as benchmarks of luxury on the Mallorcan island.

The jury of the awards has recognised the trajectory, quality and work done by the Mallorca Film Commission as a benchmark of luxury on the island. Specifically, the main objective of the Consell’s public entity is to position Mallorca as a film set for national and international shoots. To this end, it facilitates the development of audiovisual projects for professionals and companies, facilitates co-production and internationalisation of the audiovisual market, and stimulates the Mallorcan audiovisual industry.

In the words of Pedro Barbadillo, director of the Mallorca Film Commission, “it is very stimulating to receive this recognition for the work we are doing at the Mallorca Film Commission, because it is true that films and series have become one of the great showcases for the cultural, natural and scenic values of the territories. And to be considered ambassadors of Mallorca is certainly a great honour and a responsibility. We hope to live up to it, and to be able to continue to do so for a long time to come”.
