Son Sant Joan airport has exceeded 9 million passengers up to May, an increase of almost 17%. More than 3.4 million passed through its facilities in May, with Germany as the main market

Palma Airport closed May with a total of 3,421,182 passengers, 9.7% more than the same month in 2022, thanks to the flow of international travellers. In the first five months of the year, more than 9.2 million people have passed through Son Sant Joan, which represents an increase of 16.8 % compared to the same period last year, as reported by Aena.

In May, the majority of passengers were international, 2,661,691 (+9.5%). Domestic passengers totalled 758,206, up 10.3%. By country, Germany accounted for the most passengers, with 1,074,401 (+4%), followed by Spain and the United Kingdom, with 657,455 (+10.8%).

Regarding aircraft operations, 24,399 flights were handled, 0.6% more than in May 2022.

Flights are revealing a higher level of occupancy. Between January and May, 9,261,215 passengers transited through the airport facilities, a figure that implies a growth of 16.8% compared to the same period in 2022. A total of 73,481 flights were carried out, an increase of 6.2%.
