The president of the Consell de Mallorca, Catalina Cladera, has presented in London a Mallorca open all year round that is committed to sport and sustainability. She did it during the presentation organized by the Balearic Islands Tourism Strategy Agency (AETIB) at the World Travel Market (WTM).

The objective is to once again be one of the preferred destinations for the British public after two seasons in which the effects of the pandemic generated a decline in this market.

Cladera has highlighted that the entire value chain of the island has been working for years and specializing in the sports tourism product. “We have a perfect weather for the practice of sport throughout the year, especially between September and May. We also have a natural environment and an ideal landscape, such as the Serra de Tramuntana, which this year celebrates its tenth anniversary as a UNESCO World Heritage Site”, she said.

“Mallorca Circular”: sport and sustainability

“Mallorca Circular” is an ambitious plan with a focus on sustainability and financed by European funds to carry out a more environmentally friendly tourism management. The aim is to combat climate change, reuse waste and reinforce the commitment of Majorcans to renewable energy and sustainable mobility.

Mallorca, reports the Consell, is the main European destination to have obtained the “UNWTO-Quest” certificate, which highlights the island’s strategic commitment to safety, sustainability and innovation.

“Being a preferred destination for lovers of cycling, hiking, golf or any other outdoor sport allows us to maintain tourist activity beyond the high season, diversify the offer and receive a higher quality tourism throughout the year” Cladera added.
