The Symphony Orchestra of the Balearic Islands will welcome 2022 with the New Year’s Eve concert on January 1, 2022 at 8:00 p.m. at the Palacio de Congresos de Palma.
Pablo Mielgo will be the director of an evening where Strauss’s traditional waltzes will not be lacking. This concert will be repeated the following day at the Manacor Auditorium, at 6.30 pm, and tickets can now be purchased through the Symphony’s website.
The program will consist of works by J. Strauss such as: “Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor”, Opening by O. Nicolai; “Electrish Polka Schnell” by E Strauss; “Geschichten birds dem Wiener Wald op. 325 “by J. Strauss; “Tausend und eine Nacht Walzer, Op. 346” by J. Strauss II; “Marche Persanne, Op. 289” by J. Strauss II; “Unter Donner und Blitz, Op. 324” by J. Pablo Mielgo, conductor of Madrid, is a citizen of the world with an entrepreneurial spirit and with a mission: to make music available to everyone. He is currently director of the Symphonic Orchestra of the Balearic Islands (OSIB) and has been hired by orchestras from all over the world.
He studied at the Royal Conservatory in his hometown, at the Reina Sofía College and at the London Guildhall School of Music.
In addition, he created a network of numerous musical friendships between Berlin and Qatar, Lucerne and Los Angeles, with renowned musicians who now enrich the OSIB concert programs. Mielgo has been assistant to directors such as James Conlon, Jesús López Cobos, Daniel Barenboim and Claudio Abbado. He regularly conducts on the great stages of Europe, such as the Wiener Musikverein, in the USA, Carnegie Hall in New York, in Latin America and in the Middle East.
In close artistic collaboration, the Madrilenian works with orchestras such as the Simón Bolívar Symphony, the Enarena di Verona and the Qatari Philharmonic, with artists such as Juan Diego Flórez, the Labeque sisters, Pierre-Laurent Aimard, Julian Rachlin and Radovan Vlatkovic.
