The 41st edition of the Fira del Llibre de Palma (Palma Book Fair) is coming to Palma’s Passeig del Borne this Friday. This year, with the slogan ‘Som de llibre’, it will bring together 22 bookshops and more than 30 writers between the 26th of May and the 4th of June.

The fair, organised by the Gremi de Llibreters de Mallorca (Booksellers’ Guild of Mallorca), will offer more than 70 activities over 10 days. A programme that will include workshops, storytelling and poetry, among other activities. It will also pay tribute to Maria Antònia Oliver and Antoni Serra, leading figures in the world of literature.

In addition, the thirty or so writers who will be taking part will present their works and sign books in the common spaces set up by the guild, in the fairgrounds or at the individual stands of the different bookshops.

The inauguration of the Fair will be unified into a single event that will begin at 6 pm at the Borne. Ramon Bassa, professor emeritus of Didactics of Language Skills at the UIB and author of the collection ‘De mica en mica’, will be in charge of the opening speech for the 41st edition of the Fira del Llibre de Palma (Palma Book Fair). The Gremi de Llibreters de Mallorca has had to improvise a change in the fair’s inaugural event, as Ibizan writer Ben Clarck (who was on the initial programme) had not received an invitation due to an error by the organisers. Clark has assured that it is impossible for him to participate.

The rest of the programme remains the same.

Among the authors who have confirmed their presence are Sebastià Portell, Imma Monsó, Megan Maxwell, Sandra Miró, Krao, Rebeca Stones, Catalina Alou, Dora Muñoz, Irene Solanich-Sanglas, Raquel Gámez-Serrano, Miquel Àngel Ballester, Carla Nyman, Míriam Tirado, Marta León, Luna Javierre, Defreds, María Esclápez, Gabriel Bibiloni and Alice Kellen.
