Nit de l’Art 2026 (Art Night) celebrates its 30th anniversary with more than 50 exhibitions and 100 artists

The Nit de l’Art 2026 (Art Night) will take place on Saturday, 19 September, with more than 50 exhibitions and over 100 participating artists. Mallorca’s major contemporary art event celebrates its 30th anniversary with a programme running from 18:00 to 23:00 across galleries, museums and other cultural venues in Palma and other municipalities on the island.

Organised by Art Palma Contemporani (APC), the event marks three decades since it was first launched in 1997. Over the years, Nit de l’Art has become the major event opening Mallorca’s exhibition season, bringing together artists, gallery owners, collectors, curators and the public around new developments in contemporary art.

The programme includes exhibitions, cultural events, concerts, meetings and free guided tours in several languages. International professionals linked to the art world and art market are also expected to take part.

Nit de l’Art 2026 unveils new image for its 30th anniversary

One of the main new features will be a revamped visual identity for Nit de l’Art. After several years featuring a design by Studio Roses, the organisation has commissioned Mallorca-based studios HONDO and HASTALASTANTAS to create the new image.

The anniversary edition also sees a66 Gallery join Art Palma Contemporani. Founded in 2024 by Anja Maria Wolf, the gallery is located in a historic townhouse in the centre of Santanyí and focuses on bringing artworks and their creators closer to the public.

With this addition, Art Palma Contemporani now comprises 16 galleries. These include ABA ART, BARÓ, CCA Andratx, Galería Fermay, Hauser & Wirth Menorca, LA BIBI, KEWENIG, Galería Maior, Galería Pelaires, Galeria Reus and Galería Xavier Fiol, as well as other associated spaces.

Museums, cultural centres and new partner venues

The event will once again extend beyond galleries. Institutional and partner venues announced for this year’s edition include Es Baluard Museu d’Art Contemporani de Palma, Casal Solleric, Can Balaguer, CaixaForum Palma, Fundación Juan March, Fundació Miró Mallorca, La Llotja and La Misericòrdia.

Other participants include the Museu de Pollença, ADEMA Escuela Universitaria, Espai Cor, COSTER Art i Natura, Nivia Born Boutique Hotel and Sant Francesc Hotel, among others. This year, iGallery and KANT Palma also join as partner galleries.

Some of the projects have already been announced. At Fundación Barceló, ADEMA will present the group exhibition Confluencias (Confluences), featuring work by fourth-year Fine Arts students. Meanwhile, the courtyard of Sant Francesc Hotel will host Los sueños del agua (Dreams of Water), an installation by Alejandro Corujeira developed in collaboration with Galería Fermay.

An event born in Palma in 1997

The first edition dates back to September 1997, when gallery owners Pep Pinya and Xavier Fiol, through the Asociación Independiente de Galerías de Arte de Baleares (AIGAB), organised a joint night-time opening of the galleries.

According to Art Palma Contemporani, Palma was the first European city to hold an event of this kind. Three decades later, Nit de l’Art continues its mission of bringing contemporary art closer to the public and promoting Mallorca’s art sector beyond the island.
