Sport joins solidarity and awareness in the Ponle Freno Race in Palma 2024, an event promoted by Atresmedia together with the AXA Foundation that will take to the streets of the city on Sunday 21 April. This initiative not only promotes an active lifestyle, but also seeks to raise awareness about the importance of road safety in our communities.

The mayor of Palma, Jaime Martínez Llabrés, presented the second edition of this Ponle Freno race in Palma. He highlighted its impact beyond the sporting sphere. In addition, Martínez Llabrés underlined the social relevance of this initiative, which tackles one of the main challenges of the 21st century: road safety. After seven years outside the circuit, Palma is proud to join other Spanish capitals in this joint effort.

Routes of the Ponle Freno race in Palma

The race, which will start from the Parc de la Mar, will offer two routes, one of 10 km and the other of 5 km. The aim is to involve people of all ages and levels of physical fitness. All the funds raised in this event will go to the victims of traffic accidents. Specifically, on this occasion, the funds will go to finance the incorporation of a driving simulator at the Hospital Sant Joan de Déu Palma-Inca, a significant contribution to training and accident prevention.

The presentation of the race was attended by prominent personalities, including the first deputy mayor and sports councillor, Javier Bonet, the world marathon champion and ambassador of the race, Martín Fiz, and representatives of Atresmedia, AXA Foundation and the Hospital Sant Joan de Déu Palma-Inca. Citizen participation is essential in order to reach the target of one thousand participants in this edition.

This Ponle Freno Race in Palma 2024 is part of a solidarity circuit that will travel around several cities in Spain, promoting road safety and solidarity at each of its stops. The sponsors and the mayor have called on the community to join this noble cause, remembering that running saves lives.
