A total of 12 machines have already been installed out of the 25 planned within this project, framed in the process of digitization and technological modernization of EMT Palma. The six new machines are located in Avenidas, Jaume III, Plaza de España and Portopí

EMT Palma has installed these last days six new machines for citizen card recharge and ticket sales at the following stops:

  • Stop 48 – Grans Magatzems – Àrea d’intercanvi Sindicat.
  • Stop 452 – Gabriel Alomar – Àrea d’intercanvi Sindicat.
  • Stop 981 – Àrea d’intercanvi Alemanya – Comte de Sallent.
  • Stop 94 – Area of interchange Portopí.
  • Stop 54 – Jaume III.
  • Stop 598 – Plaça d’Espanya – Estació Intermodal.

These machines are in addition to the first six that were installed in April in Plaça d’Espanya (2), Airport (2), Plaça del Mercat and at the EMT Palma offices.

According to the City Council in a press release, the main objective of these machines is to facilitate the consultation of the balance of the citizen card and recharge it, both with cash and credit card.

In addition, unlike the old machines, the current ones incorporate a double card dispenser. This allows people who do not have a citizen card to purchase both single tickets and prepaid transport tickets, such as the 10-trip voucher or airport tickets, depending on the configuration of each machine. The machines installed at the airport also allow the purchase of round-trip cards, which can be used without expiration.

EMT Palma digitalization process

On the other hand, the new machines incorporate a series of improvements:

  • Touch screens and color and large-format 23-inch screens that facilitate the entire sales process.
  • State-of-the-art components that make the management process more reliable and agile.
  • More autonomy due to the fact of being property of EMT Palma and better maintenance.

The rest of the devices, up to the planned total of 25, will be installed in the coming months.

This project receives funding from the European Union through the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan of the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda.
