The General Directorate of Emergencies and Interior of the Govern of the Balearic Islands has kept the orange alert (IG-1) of the Meteobal Plan activated across all the islands due to forecasts of heavy rain and strong winds. The measure aims to ensure public safety and coordinate emergency resources throughout the day.
Meteorological Situation and Forecasts

According to the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET), the unstable weather is expected to continue throughout the day and overnight, with rainfall of up to 50 l/m² and winds between 70 and 90 km/h. Conditions are expected to improve tomorrow morning, with rain and wind disappearing by the afternoon.
Regarding accumulated precipitation, Palma has recorded the highest amounts: 34.4 l/m² at the airport and 26 l/m² at the port. So far, no significant increases in the island’s streams have been detected.
Incident Management Overview
So far, Emergencies 112 has handled 49 incidents in Mallorca, mainly due to:
- Fallen trees: 18
- Flooded basements: 6
- Flooded streets: 4
- Risky landslides: 4
The most affected locations have been Palma (24 incidents), Calvià (9), Algaida (3), Andratx (3), and Manacor (2), among others. Nevertheless, the situation remains under control thanks to the rapid response of the emergency teams.
Self-Protection Recommendations
The Director General of Emergencies and Interior, Pablo Gárriz, highlighted that the improvement in citizens’ self-protection culture has contributed to fewer incidents. The public should remain calm, follow official information, and take extra precautions:
- Avoid unnecessary travel and drive carefully, especially in the Serra de Tramuntana.
- Prefer highways, main roads, and primary routes; reduce speed and increase following distance.
- Do not stop on bridges, underpasses, or tunnels.
- Do not cross flooded areas on foot or by vehicle; if a car becomes immobilized, abandon it and move to higher ground.
- At home: avoid basements and garages, remove objects that could be swept away, and disconnect electrical devices.
- Do not approach seafronts, piers, or cliffs, and suspend outdoor and mountain activities.

All emergency resources remain on alert, monitoring the situation in real time and coordinating actions with road services and civil protection to minimize risks and ensure citizens’ safety.
