Sarah and Ashley Phillips are English and have been on the island for 30 years. “Our parents brought us here,” they say from the shop they run in Santa Catalina, Wave Uniforms, which sells uniforms for yacht crews. Garth Law, a South African who arrived in Mallorca in 2002, also works with them. “We love Mallorca, the climate, the people, the food, the safety…”, the three explain with a smile on their faces. “Besides, it’s a magnificent place to raise your children,” they add.

Sofia moved from Sweden to Mallorca because she needed “a change of scenery, a change of climate. Sweden is very dark and cold, I wanted better vibes, an island, a calmer place”. She is fascinated by the island’s nature, “everything is accessible; you have the sea, the city and the mountains in the same place. And good hospitals,” he says. She is now finalising the opening of her new integral beauty salon called Nume Palma.

Emanuele Spagnuolo y Giancarlo Orsí

The hotel and catering sector unites these two Italians living in Mallorca. “I had been in the Canary Islands and a job opportunity came up here,” says Giancarlo, who previously worked in the fashion industry for 25 years. He manages the Nap pizzeria together with Emanuele, who moved to Mallorca with his family after the pandemic. “We already knew it, we liked it, and we don’t regret it because we love the quality of life here.

Ling Ocker y Jenny

Profession: Chinese medicine consultants.

These two international women met in Mallorca. Ling lived in Singapore, Germany, Poland… But here on the island she found a place that was “open, very international, with a lot of light and from which you can easily travel to other places”. Jenny highlights “the friendly nature of the people of Spain, we enjoy the lifestyle very much and I think it will be forever, I have told my husband so”. Both say they are delighted with the choice of cafés and restaurants on the island… “Although the prices have gone up,” they add.

Robert is director of the STCC, Scandinavia’s leading touring car racing championship. He moved to Mallorca with his wife and dog, “first visiting a hotel, renting a flat and finally settling in Son Espanyolet”. He likes the atmosphere of Santa Catalina, but “we preferred a more local, quieter area”. His idea is to combine his life in Mallorca with his work obligations in Sweden.
