The French market is expected to grow in Mallorca from June to September by more than 40%, according to forecasts by the airline Air Nostrum and the shipping company Corsica Ferries. This was announced by Air Nostrum on Monday. In 2022, more than 800,000 French tourists arrived on the island, both by air and by sea. This 2023 season, the initial forecasts are for 1.2 million visitors, although this figure is expected to increase.

According to hoteliers and tour operators in Mallorca, French tourism is the fourth largest outbound market to the island, after Germany, the UK and Spain.

The airline Air Nostrum plans to bring forward the start of connections from Nice to Son Sant Joan airport by one month at the beginning of June. For their part, Air Europa, Vuleing and Volotea are also increasing their weekly frequencies to Palma from the airports of Nice, Lille, Touluse, Lyon, Nantes, Marseilles, Strasbourg, Paris and Montpelier as of July.

French tourists are mainly families, with medium purchasing power and who choose the areas of Platja de Muro, Palma, Alcúdia, Calvià and Sóller. They come to the island attracted by the beaches, the water sports, the hiking routes in the Serra de Tramuntana and the gastronomic offer. Some come with their cars and also choose holiday rentals.
