Municipal Funeral Company (EFM) has organized, in collaboration with the theater group Teatrix, a series of guided tours at the Son Tril·lo Cemetery in Palma, with the aim of highlighting the artistic and cultural richness of this space. Under the motto “A walk through the majesty of a cemetery that breathes life, art, and peace”, these tours aim to offer a new perspective on the history and heritage of the cemetery, closely linked to the city.

During the tours, Teatrix will provide a dramatized guide that will allow attendees to discover the secrets and beauty, both physical and spiritual, hidden in every corner of the Son Tril·lo Cemetery. This tour will offer the opportunity to reflect on funerary use as an attribute “intended for the living rather than the dead”, according to Teatrix, while evoking the lives of illustrious figures buried in the place.

The itinerary will include commentary on the cemetery’s cultural heritage, gardens, mausoleums, the oratory, and the catacombs, as well as readings from notable authors such as Carlos Garrido, Joan Alcover, Josep María Llompart, and Emili Darder.

Program of guided tours at Palma Cemetery

The tours will last 2 hours and cost 8 euros for the general public and 7 euros for minors, seniors over 60, families, and groups of 10 or more people. Tickets can be purchased through the cemetery’s website and the “Uep Mallorca” app.

The first tour is scheduled for Saturday, May 25 at 11:00 AM. In total, 12 daytime tours have been organized, one every last Saturday of the month, and 6 nighttime tours, which will take place on June 21 and 22, October 18 and 19, and October 25 and 26.

With this initiative, EFM and Teatrix aim to transform the perception of the Son Tril·lo Cemetery, inviting the public to rediscover it as a space of life and art.
