Tourist spending in the Balearic Islands reached €4.56 billion in July 2026, 7.99% more than in the same month last year. The increase was far greater than the rise in tourist arrivals, which grew by just 0.22% during the month (more information at this link).

Average spending stood at €1,487.33 per tourist, up 7.75%. Daily spending also increased, reaching €239.81 per person, a year-on-year rise of 6.48%.

The figures come from the EGATUR statistics compiled by IBESTAT in collaboration with INE and are provisional.

Tourist spending in Mallorca exceeds €3 billion

Mallorca accounted for 66.83% of all tourist spending in the islands during July. Eivissa-Formentera represented 23.24% and Menorca 9.93%.

The figures by island were as follows:

  • Mallorca: €3.05 billion, up 8.97%.
  • Eivissa-Formentera: €1.06 billion, up 6.43%.
  • Menorca: €452.90 million, up 5.17%.

Average spending per tourist also varied between the islands. In Mallorca, it reached €1,536.36, compared with €1,489.75 in Eivissa-Formentera and €1,220.62 in Menorca.

The Pitiüses (Pityusic Islands), however, recorded the highest daily spending, at €271.36 per tourist. Mallorca recorded €236.94 and Menorca €201.47.

Germany and the UK, the leading markets

International tourists generated 90.90% of tourist spending in the Balearic Islands in July. By individual market, Germany accounted for 18.68% of the total and the United Kingdom for 18.43%.

German tourists spent €851.82 million, 5% more than a year earlier. The UK market generated €840.30 million, an increase of 5.51%.

In terms of how the money was spent, 21.30% went on accommodation and 20.43% on transport. Food and drink accounted for 15.09%, activities for 10.07% and shopping for 3.27%. Package holidays accounted for 27.29% of total spending.

Tourist spending in the Balearic Islands exceeds €13.7 billion by July

Between January and July, tourist spending in the Balearic Islands totalled €13.70 billion, 5.65% more than in the same period of 2025. International visitors contributed €12.30 billion, while visitors from other Spanish autonomous communities spent €1.40 billion.

By island, Mallorca accumulated €10.01 billion in tourist spending, up 5.23%. Eivissa-Formentera reached €2.59 billion, an increase of 7.57%. Menorca totalled €1.11 billion, up 5.03%.
