Festes de Fornalutx 2024 are a vibrant blend of tradition, culture, and entertainment that brings together locals and visitors every year in this charming village in the Serra de Tramuntana. This year, the festivities begin on Thursday, 5th September and continue until Saturday, 14th September, filling the village with joy and activities for all ages. For over a week, the village transforms into a scene of music, dance, and above all, community spirit, attracting everyone who wishes to experience the authentic essence of one of the most beautiful villages in Mallorca.

The festivities kick off with the inauguration of art and craft exhibitions, providing an opportunity to explore the works of Xesc Martí and admire the creations of the dones de costura. The festive atmosphere intensifies with the Petxandongos, a traditional event where “El Saig” officially announces the start of the celebrations.

One of the most iconic moments of the festival is the Davallada del Bou, held on Friday, 6th September, accompanied by the Xeremiers de Fornalutx, whose xeremíes and tamborinos fill the streets with music. This event marks the beginning of a day packed with activities, ranging from musical performances by local bands in the Plaça to the lively show by DJ TABALET, who keeps the energy high with the hit “Vamos a la playa”.

Activities for children and adults

Children enjoy a special programme of activities, including the Pinballs reciclats playroom and children’s shows at Can Xoroi’s courtyard, ensuring fun for the little ones. At night, the Nit Jove brings together the youth of the village and surrounding areas for a party with live music and DJs that continues late into the night.

The weekend is filled with tradition and community spirit. Saturday begins with a Solemn Mass in honour of the village elders, followed by a musical performance by the children and a moving tribute to the older generation, emphasising the importance of roots and family in the community. The festive atmosphere is complemented by events such as the popular Torneig de Truc and the Tir de Passetja, a shooting competition that has become a classic part of the festival. As night falls, the Gran Verbena in the Plaça, featuring performances by the Gran Orquesta Mallorca, La Década Prodigiosa, and DJ Toni Socies, promises a night of dancing and fun for everyone.

On Sunday, 8th September, the celebration continues with the traditional Solemn Mass in honour of the Nativitat de Ntra. Sra. Maria Verge, the Patroness of Fornalutx. This day pays tribute to devotion and tradition, with events including a refreshing popular drink in the Plaça and folk dancing performances that showcase pride in local traditions. The day concludes with a grand outdoor dinner at the C/ Arbona Colom parking area, where a group of mariachis and comedian Jaume Gili add a touch of humour and entertainment, creating an unforgettable atmosphere under the stars.
