The traditional Concert in Torrent de Pareis, in Escorca, will take place this Sunday, 2 July 2023. An initiative promoted by the Sa Nostra Foundation with the support of CaixaBank that has been held every first Sunday in July for more than half a century. The event is expected to bring together hundreds of music-loving residents and tourists in this privileged enclave in the Tramuntana mountains. It will begin at 5:30 pm and will last approximately one hour. Admission is free.

This year 2023, the musical groups performing in the 59th edition of the Torrent de Pareis Concert are Capella Mallorquina and Palma Gospel Singers. They will offer an eclectic programme with religious themes, traditional Mallorcan songs and other more contemporary works. In the words of Gabriel Lladó, president of the Sa Nostra Foundation, “the concert at the Torrent de Pareis is a tradition for many Mallorcans and visitors”. The celebration of the concert in the Torrent de Pareis was an initiative of the painter Josep Coll Bardolet, in 1964, to disseminate choral music in Mallorca in an extraordinary setting.

The second part of the concert will feature more international works by the Palma Gospel Singers. In this concert, they will perform the songs “Holy Spirit”, “Let it be”, “Joyful Joyful”, “Center of my joy” and “At the table”.

To end the concert, the two vocal groups will delight the audience with a joint performance of two pieces: “Total praise” by R. Smallwood and “Oh, happy day!” by Edwin R. Hawkins.
