From the top of its castle, Capdepera shows the heritage and natural wealth of a municipality that, in fewer words, has it all. Culture, heritage, hiking trails and beaches are the bastions of a village in which any visitor has in their hand to enjoy to the fullest experiences that conform to each profile. “Our municipality is open to any visitor, of any origin and age. Capdepera’s diversity allows them to find what they are looking for”, says the mayor, Rafel Fernández.

Poble Castell Capdepera

The Castle, over Capdepera.

Walking through its old town you reach the stairs that go up to the Castell de Capdepera, a fortified enclosure of the fourteenth century that can be visited all year round and that houses the Museu de la Llata, ideal to immerse yourself in the local culture and in the process of making handmade products such as the braiding of the palm.

From the terrace of the church you can see some of the other urban centers of the municipality: Cala Rajada, Font de sa Cala, Canyamel and Cala Mesquida. All a few minutes from the center of Capdepera, where you can also not miss a visit to the cultural center Melis Cursach, manor house converted into a museum project. Fernández points out that “the charm of our towns lies not only in its environment, heritage, nature or culture but also in its people; Capdepera’s neighbors have open arms”.

More than beaches

In Cala Rajada, paradise of turquoise blue beaches, its lighthouse faces Menorca. Further south is Font de sa cala, a comfortable beach with calm waters and shallow depth. Canyamel, a touristic area, whose great claims are its beach and its famous caves, is located in a valley watered by the eponymous torrent. Also noteworthy is the privately owned Canyamel Tower and the Talayotic village Es Claper d’es Gegant.

To the north is Cala Mesquida, one of the best bays in Mallorca. A wide sandy area between low rocks that culminates in a dune system of great beauty. Its right margin reaches the essential Cala Agulla, a path that can be traveled on foot.

Enjoying outdoors

Precisely, hiking trails and outdoor sports are part of Capdepera’s appeal. Up to twenty itineraries allow you to enjoy the natural surroundings. The perfect complement to spend a few days in paradise in a healthy, safe and outdoor way. Routes that will guide the visitor through dreamy landscapes difficult to forget. “We want to invite visitors to live in Capdepera and discover its full potential”, concludes the first councillor.
