The municipality offers culture, gastronomy, historical monuments and numerous hiking trails

Nature, gastronomy and traditional festivities are the three great attractions of Capdepera for the colder months of the year.  Beyond its paradisiacal beaches, the municipality is an essential pilgrimage place to enjoy nature, heritage and to learn about the local culture. At the top of the municipality, its castle is a perfect starting point to discover this town, since it envelops the  visitor in a unique medieval aura. The fourteenth-century fortified enclosure can be visited all year round, together with the Museu de la Llata, where you can learn first-hand how local products are produced, such as braided hearts of palm. Other  cultural visits are the church of Sant Bartomeu, from the 19th century, the Center Melis Cursach, the Caves of Artà, the Can  March gardens, the Capdepera lighthouse or the port of Cala Rajada, an ideal place to discover the fishing tradition from the  Majorcan Llevant, where Cala Rajada, Font de sa Cala, Canyamel and Cala Mesquida are located.

Festivities and tradition

The festivities are a hallmark of Capdepera, which celebrates the most traditional and authentic in January: Sant Antoni, which starts on January 16. During these dates, the ‘dimonis’ and the ‘foguerons’ invade the streets of the municipality to warm up the  winter calendar. Before summer arrives, on the third weekend in May, it is the turn of its popular Medieval Market, which goes back in time so that residents and visitors can learn about how the inhabitants of Capdepera lived in the Middle Ages.

Natural treasure

Between party and party, the beauty of the environment is easily accessible through the 20 routes offered by Capdepera  through its website oncapdepera. com. With them you can travel the most unknown and unspoiled coast of the island, whose  turquoise tones dazzle hikers. Without forgetting indoor itineraries in which to disconnect and enjoy the outdoors. A paradise 365 days a year.
