From next week, young people aged between 18 and 35 living in the Balearic Islands who are renting will be able to apply for the “bono joven” or “bo lloguer jove” officially appointed by the Balearic Government. These rental subsidies in the Balearic Islands can reach up to 250€ per month for 2 years.
The budget of the rental subsidy for young people is 9.6 million euros over two years, i.e. 4.8 million euros per year, through which direct aid will be donated to tenants who hold a rental contract.
This new subsidy is an aid promoted by the Central Government and managed through the Autonomous Regions to provide accessibility and ease of access to rental housing for young people with financial difficulties through direct aid.
Apply for the Youth Rental Voucher
To apply for the Bono Alquiler Joven, applicants must meet a series of requirements set out in this new subsidy;
- Applicants cannot have a household income of more than three times the IPREM (€24,318).
- Rental contracts must be in force from 1 January 2022 onwards.
- The application must be made online through the Govern’s website www.bolloguerjove.caib.es.
- The use of an electronic ID card, digital signature or cl@ve is recommended for online procedures.
- Applications are individual and not per cohabitation unit.
Requirements, who can apply
- Young people over 35 years of age at the time of application.
- Spanish nationals, members of the EU or Switzerland and non-EU foreigners with a residence permit in the Balearic Islands.
- The rental contract cannot exceed 900€.
Deadline for applications
The deadline for submitting applications will open the week of 1 August, once the call for applications has been published in the BOIB. It will be open for a month and a half, ending on 15 September 2022. After this date, rent payments for the rest of the year can be justified through the telematic portal of aid for young people renting in the Balearic Islands.
The Spanish Government has set up a website with all the information on this new aid for young renters. This national website allows access to applications once the autonomous communities publish the start of this call for applications in their official gazettes.
