Mallorcans Antònia Font and Xavibo win the MIN Independent Music Awards at last night’s ceremony at the Palma Auditorium

Antònia Font received the MIN Awards for Independent Music recognition last night for her comeback album Un minut estraboscòpica. The Mallorcan rapper Xavibo was another of the night’s winners at the gala held in the Auditòrium de Palma. With five awards, Anni B Swwet and Los Estanques were the big winners of the evening presented by artist Samantha Hudson.

The Mallorcan band picked up the title of Best Album in Catalan for their comeback album released in 2022. They were also recognised a few months ago as best artist of the year at the Enderrock awards a few months ago. Antònia Font came out ahead of Marala, by the Mallorcan Clara Fiol, as well as Anna Andreu, Els Catarres and Mishima.

For his part, the Palma rapper Xavibo received the award for Best Original Lyrics for his song Llorar al revés (Crying backwards). He beat Tanxugueiras, who were the favourites, as well as Zahara, Karmento and Las Migas.

The big winners of the night were Anni B Sweet and Los Estanques, winners of The Orchard Award for Album of the Year and Agedi for Best Pop Album for Burbuja cómoda y elefante inesperado. In addition, their song Brillabas was proclaimed Best Song of the Year and they also went up to collect the award for Best Artist.

Tanxugueiras, who were the favourites of the night with seven nominations, finally won two, Best Galician Album and Best Root Music Album for their work Diluvio.

The gala featured performances by the big winners, Anni B Sweet and Los Estanques, as well as La La Love, Karmento, Shego, OR (O-ERRA), Las Migas and Xavibo.

Other awards were: Best Emerging Artist for the group Shego; Biznaga won Best Rock Album for Bremen no existe; the hip-hop duo SFDK took the stage for their new album, Cardioempatía, Best Urban Music Album; and Zahara won Best Live Performance. Best Jazz Album went to Jorge Pardo’s Trance Sketches.
