Palma de Mallorca Airport recorded 24,402,872 passengers between January and August 2026, 2.2% more than during the same period last year. In August alone, 4,808,295 passengers travelled through Son Sant Joan, representing year-on-year growth of 2.3%.

Figures published by Aena also show an increase in flights at Palma Airport. During the first eight months of the year, 175,341 operations were recorded, 1.8% more, while August ended with 32,324 take-offs and landings, 2.8% more than in the same month of 2025.

Almost 4.9 million passengers at Palma Airport in August

International traffic continued to account for the majority of passengers at Palma Airport during August. A total of 3,866,072 passengers used international connections, 2.1% more than a year earlier.

Domestic flights accounted for 941,130 passengers, with a slightly higher year-on-year increase of 3.3%.

Overall, passenger traffic at Palma Airport continued to grow during one of the busiest months of the year for tourism, although the increase recorded at Son Sant Joan was lower than across Aena’s Spanish airport network as a whole.

Palma Airport grows more slowly than Spain as a whole

Aena airports in Spain recorded 34,890,784 passengers in August, 4.7% more than in the same month of 2025. Growth was therefore 2.4 percentage points higher than that recorded in Palma.

Between January and August, the Spanish network reached 225,543,599 passengers, an increase of 4.1%. Over the same period, air traffic at Palma Airport increased by 2.2%.

In terms of operations, Spanish airports handled 273,292 movements during August, up 4.3%. Palma Airport recorded growth of 2.8% in this indicator.
