The president of the Association of Entrepreneurs of Concessions and Operations of Temporary Services in the Public Maritime Terrestrial Domain of Mallorca (Adopuma), Onofre Fornés, has sent a letter to the president of the Government of the Balearic Islands, Francina Armengol, requesting a meeting. The request for this meeting is to inform the president of the difficulties and problems that the Government will inherit when it acquires the powers of the Coastal Demarcation. In its communiqué, the association highlights its concern about the transfer of powers to the regional executive, which until now depended on the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge.
“As you know, many of our businesses, some of which are more than 60 years old, have not been able to open normally this season, for various bureaucratic reasons that the Coastal Demarcation has alleged to limit our activity in the public maritime land domain. Sometimes due to delays in the processing of temporary authorisations and other times, due to an unjustified change of criteria, we have been harmed, with a substantial reduction in our activity and the consequent loss of jobs”, said Adopuma.
The association also highlights the refusals of temporary authorisations for installations in the public domain, which had been authorised until this year. They attribute these refusals to changes in the criteria of the Balearic Islands Ministry of the Environment. According to the letter sent by the association, Adopuma insists that the president knows first hand the problems that the Government will have to take on regarding the Demarcation of Coasts.
It is worth remembering that on 5 May 2022, the Government spokesperson, Isabel Rodríguez, announced the transfer of powers over the Coastal Authority, together with Francina Armengol, which could be a reality by the end of this year.
