Ses Salines is once again celebrating its fiestas. The village of Migjorn celebrates the festivities of Sant Bartomeu from the 12th of August until the 24th of September, after two years of restrictions: “And this year they come with more strength than ever after two years of forced restrictions. This year it’s time to celebrate it as it should be celebrated: sensibly, but with a great deal of joy,” said Joan Rodríguez Ginard, mayor of Ses Salines. These are festive days with plenty of entertainment and fun for all tastes. The programme of the Ses Salines festivities includes the Gran cercavila and the Gran revetla de Sant Bartomeu on Tuesday 23rd August. Another important date for these fiestas is the 24th, when the Corregudes, the solemn mass in honour of the patron saint Sant Bartomeu and the Espectacle Pirotècnic (fireworks display) will be held.
But one of the most eagerly awaited days will be the XXIII Festa del Cavall de Ses Salines, which will be held on Saturday the 27th of August. The Festa del Cavall is one of the most traditional celebrations in Ses Salines and a great attraction for those who attend. The town council is calling for this traditional festival to be enjoyed sensibly and with respect for the riders. This festival consists of a show led by an equestrian parade in which the horses jump and dance. The Festa del Cavall is one of the most popular horse festivals in Mallorca. To the rhythm of the flute, the horses trot and rears up on their two hind legs. While the horses parade to the sound of music, the audience is treated to a very special spectacle.
At the beginning of the Festa del Cavall, the first flute will be played in front of the Town Hall and the retreat will begin. After the show, the party continues with the best music in the Plaça de Sant Bartomeu.
