This year’s ‘Cinema a la fresca’ program includes the screening of a total of 18 films in Ses Voltes between August 3 and September 11
For the second year in a row, Ses Voltes will be the setting for an already traditional event on Palma’s summer agenda: ‘Cinema a la fresca’. Due to the health situation derived from COVID-19, the 2021 edition will be in a reduced format: 18 films will be screened between August 3 and September 11 “guaranteeing the necessary sanitary and preventive measures,” said Antoni Noguera, Deputy Mayor for Culture and Social Welfare.
This year’s capacity will be 230 spectators per screening and it will not be necessary to purchase tickets in advance; access will be free until places are completed. Doors will open half an hour before each film (9:30 p.m. in August and 9:00 p.m. in September).
‘Cinema a la fresca’ 2021: That’s how it will be
For this summer’s ‘Cinema a la fresca’ program “we are fleeing from large productions and are committed to promoting small-format films in their original versions”, Noguera has advanced. Thus, almost all the films will be screened in the original version and with subtitles in Catalan, Spanish or English.
Documentary cinema will have a space in the cycle with titles such as “Amazing Grace” (Areta Franklin concert recorded by Sydney Pollack) or “Les vies d’Albert Camus”, by Georges-Marc Benamou. Other proposals such as “Adu”, “La bona mentida” or “Specials” will appear in the solidarity and coexistence section. While the nationally produced cinema will be represented by “The odyssey of the giles”, “El crack Cero” or “El plan”.
In the international chapter, the production chosen for this occasion will be “Parasites”, winner of the Oscars 2020. “Carmen y Lola”, “El Carretó” (silent fantasy film) and, in the tributes section, “Autour de minuit “(In memory of Bertrand Tavernier) or” The Executioner “will complete the program for this edition.
