Tarjeta Única on mobile phones

Public transport users in Mallorca will be able to carry their Tarjeta Única (Single Card) on their mobile phones from 22 September. The new TIB app will allow passengers to use the virtual card to travel on EMT Palma and TIB buses, as well as train and metro services, without having to carry the physical card.

The feature will also be available to users of the Tarjeta Intermodal (Intermodal Card), which can be added to a mobile phone. Users will therefore be able to validate their journeys with the virtual Tarjeta Única across Mallorca’s different integrated public transport networks.

The Tarjeta Única began to be introduced in October 2025 and allows passengers to use a single transport card across the island’s different networks. Its integration into mobile phones represents a further step in the technological and fare integration being promoted jointly by the Balearic Government and Palma City Council.

How to use the Tarjeta Única on your mobile phone

The new TIB app will be available to download from 22 September on Google Play and the Apple App Store. The TIB app will allow users to carry their Tarjeta Única or Tarjeta Intermodal on their mobile phone and use it directly for travel.

The virtual card can be used on:

  • EMT Palma buses.
  • TIB buses.
  • Mallorca trains.
  • Palma Metro.

Adding the EMT Palma Tarjeta Única to a mobile phone will therefore allow passengers to travel on the municipal network without carrying the physical card.

The TIB app will provide real-time bus information

In addition to incorporating the transport card, the app will provide real-time information on bus services. Users will be able to check when the next bus will arrive at each stop, save their usual routes and stops as favourites and receive notifications about them.

These features will complement those already available through EMT Palma’s own app, which also provides service information and real-time bus arrival information for each stop.

The digitalisation of the card forms part of the modernisation of Mallorca’s public transport system. Previous improvements also include the option to pay by bank card across the entire EMT Palma bus fleet.
