IB3 will broadcast the total solar eclipse on 12th August live with extensive coverage across television, radio and digital platforms. The Balearic public broadcaster will deploy nearly twenty teams, three drones and live connections from Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza, Formentera and the Balearic Sea.
Anyone who prefers to follow the Mallorca eclipse live without travelling to one of the viewing locations will be able to do so through IB3. The public broadcaster of the Balearic Islands has prepared special programming for this Wednesday, 12th August, allowing viewers and listeners to follow the phenomenon on television, radio and online.
The operation, called Operació Eclipsi, will mobilise nearly twenty teams and three drones, with live connections from all four islands and different points across the Balearic Sea.
Coverage will continue throughout the day, although the main television special will begin at 5:00 pm and continue until 9:10 pm.
Where to watch the Mallorca eclipse live on television
IB3 Televisió will begin covering the eclipse from early in the morning.
The programme Al Dia will offer live connections, interviews with experts, practical information and recommendations for watching the phenomenon safely. Later, Ara Anam will continue the coverage, while IB3 Notícies Migdia will connect with some of the main viewing locations.
The main broadcast will begin at 5:00 pm, when a joint special by IB3’s News Services and Cinc Dies gets underway, continuing until 9:10 pm.
The programme will be presented from Formentor by Toni Rigo and Silvia Pol, with contributions from IB3 meteorologist Dani Capó.

Formentor will become the main hub of IB3’s coverage during the afternoon.
From there, the broadcaster will connect with all four islands, the Balearic Sea and different locations across Mallorca. Planned locations include Platja de Palma and boats positioned off Port de Sóller.
In addition, three drones will provide aerial footage of the Serra de Tramuntana during the day.
During the approximately 90 seconds of totality, IB3 Televisió will combine live images from all four islands with real-time graphics to show and explain how the eclipse develops.
How to watch the Mallorca eclipse online
The eclipse will also be available to watch online.
IB3 will provide special coverage through ib3.org and its social media channels, with information, videos, exclusive content and live streams from Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera.
This means viewers will not need a television to follow the phenomenon live from home, as it can also be watched on a mobile phone, tablet or computer.
The eclipse will also be broadcast live on IB3 Ràdio
IB3 Ràdio will begin its special programming even earlier. At 7:00 am, Informatiu Matí will connect live with different locations across the four islands and provide information on mobility, restrictions and safety measures.
From 12:00 noon, Al Dia Illes will broadcast across the archipelago from the Observatori Astronòmic Puig des Molins in Ibiza.
At 7:00 pm, a special edition of Informatiu Vespre dedicated to the eclipse will begin, while from 8:00 pm, Xiu-Xiu will gather live reactions from different locations across the Balearic Islands.
The programme will also connect live with two Official Observation Zones.
What time should you tune in to IB3 to watch the eclipse?
Although IB3 will provide eclipse-related coverage from early in the day, for anyone who simply wants to watch the eclipse live on television, the main reference will be the special programme beginning at 5:00 pm on IB3 Televisió.
The broadcast will continue until 9:10 pm and will cover the hours leading up to the eclipse, the moment of totality and the minutes immediately afterwards.
Watching the eclipse on television or via streaming also provides an alternative for anyone who prefers not to travel to the areas where the largest crowds are expected during the afternoon of 12th August.
