The calendar of public holidays in the Balearic Islands for 2027 is now official. The Consell de Govern has approved the twelve public holidays that will apply in the autonomous community during the year, in accordance with current national and regional regulations.

The proposal was previously agreed with the social partners within the framework of the Mesa Social Tripartita de las Illes Balears, a body made up of the Government, business organisations and trade unions, which gave its approval to the calendar at the meeting held on 5 March 2026.

The Balearic Islands labour calendar for 2027 includes both nationwide public holidays and some traditional celebrations specific to the autonomous community, such as the Dia de les Illes Balears (1 March) and Maundy Thursday (25 March). Easter Monday (29 March), which municipalities could normally choose as a local holiday, will become an official public holiday across the entire autonomous community because the Second Day of Christmas (26 December) falls on a Sunday.

Long weekends in 2027

As for the long weekends that occur without needing to take additional days off — for those who do not work on Saturdays or Sundays — the public holiday calendar in the Balearic Islands for 2027 leaves several combinations that extend the weekend:

  • From Friday 1 to Sunday 3 January – New Year’s Day falls on a Friday, allowing the year to begin with a long weekend.

  • From Saturday 27 February to Monday 1 March – Dia de les Illes Balears falls on a Monday, creating a three-day weekend.

  • From Thursday 25 to Monday 29 March – Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Monday connect with the weekend during Easter.

  • From Saturday 30 October to Monday 1 November – All Saints’ Day falls on a Monday and allows another long weekend.
  • From Saturday 4 to Monday 6 December – Constitution Day falls on a Monday, creating another three-day weekend.
