Cruise tourism continues to grow in the Balearic Islands. During the first six months of this year, the ports of Palma, Alcúdia, Eivissa, Maó and Formentera welcomed a total of 344 cruise ships, representing a 14.7% increase compared to the same period last year. In addition, the number of passengers also saw a significant rise, reaching 1.06 million people, which is 11% more than in 2024.

In the month of June alone, the ports of the archipelago registered the arrival of 91 cruise ships, carrying around 320,000 tourists, according to data released by Puertos del Estado.
Scheduled lines and freight also on the rise
On the other hand, passenger traffic on scheduled ferry routes has also seen a slight increase. In the first half of the year, over 3 million people travelled between the islands or to the mainland on regular services, which represents a 0.7% increase compared to the first half of last year.
Freight transport is also on the rise: the five ports handled a total of 8.8 million tonnes during the first half of 2025, which is a 3.4% increase over the same period in the previous year.
