The EMT will reinforce the L34 with one more vehicle, going from two to three buses and with a frequency of 45 minutes. This will facilitate the transfer to the hospitals of Son Espases and Son Llàtzer for patients and families coming to Mallorca from other islands.
The extension of line 34 of the Municipal Transport Company (EMT) to the airport of Son Sant Joan fulfills a request of the Conselleria de Salut to extend this line in order to be able to transfer patients and families arriving to Mallorca from other islands to the hospitals of Son Espases and Son Llàtzer.
The Deputy Mayor of Mobility, Toni Deudero, explained that “this line will be reinforced with one more vehicle, going from 2 to 3 buses and with a frequency of 45 minutes. In addition, this new route will provide a direct connection from the neighborhoods of es Rafal, es Vivero, Son Cladera and sa Indioteria to the Fan shopping center, the Mirall building and the airport”.
According to data from the Conselleria, in 2022 there were 2 million displaced people who went to the reference hospitals.
Likewise, the L34 will continue to be free for all people with citizen card or intermodal card. People who do not have these individual cards must pay the airport fare for trips to or from Son Sant Joan and the current urban fare for all other destinations.
It should be remembered that residents of Menorca, Ibiza or Formentera can apply to the corresponding Island Council for the citizen card that gives them access to current discounts on the EMT urban bus network, currently free of charge.
