The hunting period for rabbits with dogs and shotguns will start on 15 August, on the working days for each of the modalities (Thursday and Sunday in the hunting grounds and Thursday in the open fields). The half close season, on the other hand, will open on Sunday 20 August. In the hunting grounds of common use, popularly known as “free”, the half closed season will begin on Thursday 24th, provided that the municipalities have applied for the framework plan.
It should be noted that you can hunt with a shotgun and/or dogs on Thursdays and Sundays; with falconry on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays (reserves) and Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays (free land); and hunting with Ibizan dogs and greyhounds is permitted on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays (reserves) and Thursdays and Saturdays (free land).
The species that can be hunted during this period are the rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus), the quail (Coturnix coturnix) and the wood pigeon (Columba palumbus). As regards the hare (Lepus granatensis), the measures of only allowing hunting by the traditional methods of greyhound and falconry (which account for 1.5% of the hunting of this species) and limiting the number of hunts to two birds per hunter per day are maintained.
The collared dove (Streptopelia turtur) may not be hunted during this season. The collared dove (Columba livia) and the collared dove (Streptopelia decaocto) may be hunted from 12 October, with the opening of the general closed season.
