The Festes de Sant Sebastià 2027 (Sant Sebastià Festivities 2027) are beginning to take shape in Palma. Palma City Council has launched several procurement processes to prepare the music programme, Sant Sebastià Petit (Children’s Sant Sebastià) and the pyrotechnic material that will be used for the fogueró (bonfire) and Correfoc (Fire Run).

Sant Sebastià 2027

The first confirmed event will be Sant Sebastià Petit, which will take place on Sunday 10 January at parc de sa Riera. The festivities will also include a major concert in plaça d’Espanya, an afternoon party in plaça de Joan Carles I and a verbena (open-air dance party) in plaça Major. There will also be the Revetla de Sant Sebastià (Sant Sebastià Eve celebrations), with live music across five squares in central Palma. The artists taking part in the festivities have yet to be announced.

Sant Sebastià Petit will take place on 10 January at sa Riera

Palma City Council has already begun the procurement process for children’s and family shows and activities for Sant Sebastià Petit 2027. The event will take place on Sunday 10 January at parc de sa Riera.

The planned programme includes live children’s music, a mini disco, character-themed areas, fancy-dress catwalks and parades. Storytelling, puppet shows, theatre, clown performances and magic shows will also be commissioned.

Circus activities will also feature, with juggling, acrobatics, clowns, trapeze and aerial shows, as well as introductory activities. The programme will be rounded off with games, workshops, an area for children aged 0 to 3 and a climbing wall.

The Sant Sebastià 2027 music programme

Palma City Council has also approved the tender specifications for the musical performances at Sant Sebastià 2027, with a maximum budget of €603,790, including VAT. The contract is divided into eight lots and includes the technical and logistical services required for the concerts.

One of the lots covers the major concert in plaça d’Espanya, which may feature up to two well-known groups or artists and a support act.

Another lot is for the afternoon party in plaça de Joan Carles I, where up to four DJs may perform. Plaça Major, meanwhile, will host up to three verbena or pop performances.

Palma City Council has not yet announced the names of the artists who will take part in the festivities.

Revetla de Sant Sebastià 2027 across five squares in Palma

The music contract reserves five lots specifically for the Revetla de Sant Sebastià 2027, with performances spread across different locations in central Palma.

Plaça d’Espanya may host up to four musical performances and plaça de Cort up to three. Plaça Major may host up to two performances, while plaça de Joan Carles I and plaça de la Reina may each host up to four.

Palma City Council is also preparing the rental, installation, maintenance and dismantling of the stages and other facilities required for the festivities.

Sant Sebastià fogueró and Correfoc

Preparations also include the pyrotechnic material required for the Sant Sebastià fogueró and the Sant Sebastià Correfoc, scheduled for late January.

The pyrotechnics are included in a contract with an estimated value of €67,786 that does not cover Sant Sebastià alone. The supply will also cover other celebrations in Palma during 2027, including the arrival of the Three Kings, the Correfoc de Sant Joan (Sant Joan Fire Run) and the Nit de les Ànimes (Night of the Souls).

With these procedures, Palma City Council is moving forward with the organisation of the Festes de Sant Sebastià 2027, while the artists and groups that will form part of the music programme have yet to be announced.
