Marga Prohens will make her investiture speech for the presidency of the Government of the Balearic Islands on Monday the 3rd of July at 10:00 a.m. and will explain her government programme. Thus, the debate in the Parliament to invest the PP candidate, Marga Prohens, is scheduled to begin on this day, and the popular candidate will be sworn in as President of the Balearic Islands on Friday 7 July at the Consolat de Mar, the seat of the Government of the Balearic Islands.

This was formally announced yesterday by the Board of Spokespersons of the Balearic Parliament. After the first appearance of Prohens, once 24 hours have passed, on Tuesday 4th July, it will be the turn of the rest of the parties with parliamentary representation to reply. Once the speeches are finished, the first vote will be called. In the first instance, Prohens will not be elected because she will not obtain an absolute majority. Therefore, 48 more hours will have to pass before the second vote is called, scheduled for Thursday 6 July, in which Vox will abstain and make Prohens’ investiture possible. Thus, the recently elected president of the Balearic Islands will take office on Friday 7 July in an institutional act at the Consolat de Mar. In the meantime, Prohens is finalising her team of ministers in order to set up the Government’s organisation chart.

The Consell de Mallorca will be constituted on 8th July

As for the people who will occupy the different ministries, for the moment the philologist Antoni Vera, as future minister of Education, and Antoni Costa, as economic vice-president of the Government, are practically confirmed. Also on the Popular Party leader’s table is the former mayor of Palma, Catalina Cirer, as councillor of Social Services, and the former mayor of Alaró and manager of Asaja, Joan Simonet, as councillor of Agriculture and the Environment.

As for the constitution of the Consell de Mallorca, the date is expected to be next Saturday, the 8th of July. The session will begin at 18:30 and the first vote will take place to elect the president of the island institution, the popular Llorenç Galmés, according to the agreement signed between PP and Vox this week.

Vox is expected to manage the Environment and Hunting in the Consell de Mallorca, departments to which the department of Local Cooperation could also be added. According to the same agreement, Vox will also support the investiture of Dolfo Vilafranca as the new president of the Consell de Menorca and will also enter this insular government, as well as the municipal government teams of Calvià, Llucmajor, Alcúdia and Marratxí.
