From the 1st of January 2024 the island offers different cultural options to celebrate the beginning of the new year by enjoying classical music. Among the most outstanding are the performances by the Strauss Festival Orchestra and the New Year’s concert by the Orquestra Simfònica de les Illes Balears (Symphony Orchestra of the Balearic Islands).

Mallorca’s New Year’s Eve 2024 concert programme is a traditional event that brings together classical music lovers in Palma’s most emblematic cultural venues.


Strauss Festival Orchestra: 34 years of successful touring throughout Europe

For lovers of classical music, the best-known titles of the waltz king, Napoleon, Flower Festival, The Emperor’s Waltz or Champagne, The Beautiful Blue Danube and the Radetzky March make up the programme of this concert which has so far been attended by more than 5 million spectators from all over the world.

Vienna Musikverein, Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Berlin Philharmonie, Hamburg Musikhalle, Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome, Gran Teatre del Liceu, Palau de la Música in Barcelona, Teatro Real in Madrid… These are some of the venues that filled up to see one of the most eagerly awaited events of the musical season.

New Year’s Concert 2024 by the Orquestra Simfònica de les Illes Balears

Pablo Mielgo conducts the traditional New Year’s concert of the Orquestra Simfònica de les Illes Balears. The OSIB celebrates the beginning of 2024 with a programme consisting mainly of works by Johann Strauss Jr. Soprano Elena Sancho will be the soloist.

Zarzuela Concert

A concert dedicated to the “género chico” in which we can listen to the best-known romanzas from the popular zarzuela repertoire with pieces by Sorozábal, Chapí and the Mallorcan Miquel Marquès. It will be performed by the Orquestra Simfònica Illes Balears (Symphony Orchestra of the Balearic Islands).
