The Hotel Business Federation of Mallorca (FEHM) expects occupancy on the island to reach 90 percent in July. These figures could be affected by the strike of a thousand workers planned at Gatwick airport from 28 July

The Hotel Business Federation of Mallorca (FEHM) has indicated that hotel occupancy on the island is expected to be 90 percent in July. However, its president, María Frontera, does not rule out the possibility that the strike called at the British airport of Gatwick from 28 July could affect these occupancy figures. A thousand workers have been called to the strike. Frontera made these statements at a press conference this morning.

The president of Mallorca’s hotel employers’ association took stock of the summer season so far and reported that in June Mallorca recorded an occupancy rate of 82 percent. This figure is below the figures recorded in 2022. As he explained, the decline in occupancy in June was due to strikes and adverse weather conditions, especially in the last weeks of the month.

As for the forecasts for September, the FEHM considers that it will be “a good month” with an estimated occupancy rate of 55 percent. In addition, Frontera said that both the high pre-season and the high post-season “are becoming more and more established”.
